Working from Home
It is estimated that the number of people working from home is now on the increase and is set to rise steadily over the coming years. Although this seems to be the ideal alternative for those with families and other commitments then it is not a decision that should be taken lightly. I believe that many people who work from home often put in more hours than those who are employed outside of the home. This type of work often appeals to women who can then combine looking after the family (children, pets or elderly relatives) whilst also making an income from their chosen profession. Many of the multi level marketing sales schemes in existence make this one of their main marketing points as they say you will be able to earn an income whilst still being there for your family. This sounds fine in theory though there will be many hours work involved in starting up a business like this, attracting new custom, marketing the products, and finding new venues. I always tell prospective recruits to my sales team that you will get out of the scheme what you are prepared to put into it. If you can only give it a few hours a week then you cannot realistically expect to make large sums of money. It is possible to have high sales revenue, though the effort involved will be higher in order to make this possible. Those who tend to succeed at these types of roles are those who are not afraid of hard work and look after their recruits and customers as well as looking after their own and their families needs. I prefer to tell it as it is, that way no-one can ever say that I mislead them into thinking it would be easy. These roles do require dedication, so its best to choose carefully and if you are selling products then choose something that you feel comfortable promoting. It works best if you choose something that you genuinely like and would use yourself as it is very hard to sell something to a customer if deep down you really hate it ! That said though the returns can be good if you are prepared to stick at it. Remember Rome was not built in a day ! If you start one of these sales schemes you have to be prepared to allow it time to build a reasonable customer base. Personally I would say you need to allow at least two years, as you are unlikely to be in profit within your first year unless you are extremely lucky, or already have a large number of contacts who are all potential customers. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to put anyone off, but I do think that many give up with these schemes before they have given them a proper chance and then are disappointed that it didn't work out. So please give it a chance to grow and then you can and will reap the rewards. |
