A Busy Bank Holiday Weekend
Well I'm now at home recovering from a very busy bank holiday weekend. I spent two days at Milestones museum in Basingstoke with my stand for Phoenix Cards. The event was a Steam and Vintage fair but stands such as mine appealed to the ladies who had come along. While their partners visited the large smoky steam engines they were more than happy to look at something a little prettier ! It was great timing too as it almost co-incided with the launch of the next batch of new card designs, so I was able to have a nice display of something that hadn't been shown or on sale anywhere else yet. Saturday was the best day, although the wind was quite strong. I'd taken my gazebo but even with it weighted down it was still threatening to blow away towards the end of the afternoon. I took it down at that point as it was proving to be more trouble than it was worth ! On Sunday I was in two minds whether to go as the weather forecast was pretty poor and it was raining and windy and that was before I'd even set off. In the end I decided to go and try to put out a small display even if that meant having the card rack in the boot of the car! On arrival I managed to get the gazebo up and the wind had died away, so I persevered and eventually it paid off as the sun came out. Sales were not as brisk as on Saturday but it still ended up being worthwhile attending. The girls loved both days anyway as they were allowed free entry into the museum. Although they've been before they love it there as the whole thing is built around an olde worlde street scene and they like to check out if anything has changed since their last visit. They did find a couple of new exhibits and completed all the quizzes and building challenges while they were there. Its probably just as well as today has been a complete washout. We did manage a trip to a new craft shop that has opened nearby but that was about it. So another typical bank holiday was had by all !
